Legacy: A Decade of
Bucharest Photofest

Ionuț Trandafirescu, founder and artistic director

With Legacy as this year’s theme, we look at photography as a way of remembering, connecting, and leaving something meaningful behind – just like this festival has done, year after year – and we celebrate not only photography’s ability to preserve memory and meaning, but also the incredible community that has grown around the festival.

The 10th edition of the festival is about continuity, inspiration, exchange of experiences, and passion. Expect impactful exhibitions, engaging discussions and conferences, along with a program dedicated to the latest and most valuable films focused on photography.

Through Legacy we pay tribute to the renowned photographers, artists, lecturers, professionals, and directors who have honored our festival with their presence. Their participation not only elevated the quality of our project but also enriched the collective legacy of our beloved festival.

In essence, Legacy underscores the importance of the festival’s concept over the years, symbolized by a decade of dedication, passion, and hard work. It highlights the need for a special edition and invites everyone to be part of this story, thus contributing to the influence and long-term potential of Bucharest Photofest!

Creative collaboration and professional dialogue

One of the festival’s central moments, the bpf.conference brings together a dynamic mix of voices across photography and visual culture. From award-winning photographers and internationally acclaimed curators to emerging talents and sharp thinkers, this full-day program features lectures, artist talks, panel discussions, and debates.

As part of this year’s edition, we proudly introduce Analog Photography Program, a newly launched program dedicated to exploring, supporting, and reframing analog photographic practices within today’s visual and technological landscape.
